ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY.

ON THIS DAY in 1972, Richard Nixon left dead fish above the ceiling tiles in Democratic national headquarters.

No, that was rogue White House employees. Nixon had no idea what employees he selected, working in the basement of his residence, were doing, or what expenses they covered with bags of unmarked $100 bills out of his campaign fund safe. Surely it was campaign posters, not dead fish and bugging equipment, right?

Sigh. I remember the days when presidents who violated the law and their oath and disregarded the Constitution had some subtlety, sneaking around, breaking in, bugging their enemies and with their own campaign funds, rather than doing it blatantly in public with the blessings and assistance of the Congress and the press and trillions of my money. I miss those days….
