ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY.

On this day in 1908, Harvard University voted to create what became the Harvard Business School. Future historians, in searching for a date to mark the beginning of the long slide toward the new Dark Ages, will fix on April 8, 1908, the way current historians fix on Alaric’s sack of Rome as the beginning of the slide into the previous Dark Ages.

Also, if you search for “Sack of Rome” in Wikipedia, you find that sacking Rome is a very popular sport.

    After successful international expansion to Bahrain and Kazakhstan, Saks 5th Avenue briefly considered an Italian location before realizing that they would just get lost in the auto-correct.

    It’s been nearly 500 years since the last Sack of Rome, aren’t we about due for another one?

      We are willing to accept the 1943 Nazi invasion and occupation, with attendant massacres of civilians, roundups of Jews, lootings, and other sports typical of Germanic barbarians, as another sack of Rome, in which case perhaps we can tolerate a fairly long interval before the next sack.
