The Warrior’s Creed
This poetry I write will save the world.
I gallop with my outrage flag unfurled
And charge against the things that make me mad—
Injustice, evil, everything that’s bad.
I light my fires from incandescent sparks
Of words and spaces, punctuation marks,
And lines of verse that dribble down the page
Like molten lava, emblem of my rage.
My righteous anger gives me all the strength
I need to thunder at prodigious length,
And far into the night I may be found
Beating dead horses right into the ground.
It’s true that no one yet has bought my book,
And as for Facebook—I’m afraid to look.
But still, I keep my outrage strong and hale,
Because I know by faith I must prevail.
