Lament of the King.
I am the king of someplace, though I can’t remember where,
But if you ever visited, you’d know that you were there.
And if you came to see me, I would take you by the hand
And show you all the lovely things in my delightful land.
And I would let you sample our delightful local wine,
And you would say that you had never seen a place so fine.
But neither one of us will ever have that privilege rare:
I am the king of someplace, but I can’t remember where.
