    I, for one, am appalled at the continued politicization of children’s literature. McGuffey Readers were good enough for generations of children and they should be good enough for the youth of today as well.

    Where will it end? Children’s books are supposed to be about puppies and kittens and the justness of the imperial cause, not forcing Sarbanes-Oxley down the throats of impressionable preschoolers or telling them that enhanced financial disclosure is normal. These are conversations that should take place in the home, if at all.

    Also, the better works on the subject represent the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) as a precocious raccoon. Kirkus recommends “Peek-a-Boo, PCAOB” as the genre’s urtext.

    Perhaps it was published in conjunction with Dr. Dobson and Focus on the Family in order to help parents discuss these sensitive matters.
