From DR. BOLI’S ALPHABET OF OCCUPATIONS.

E for the Explorer, brave and bold.
She’s lost again, but doesn’t mind.
She never knows what she expects to find,
But when she finds it, then she’ll take a look
            And write a coffee-table book.

In tropic summer or in Arctic cold,
She watches out for temples, ruins,
                        Barbarian tribes, headhunters, lions, bruins,
                        Whales, glaciers, photogenic cliffside-dwellers,
In short, the things that make best-sellers.

And many years from now, when she’s too old
To gallop off to far Cathay
Or ride on camel-back to Mandalay,
Her famous face will be a great success
            In travelogues on PBS.
