THINGS TO DO.

The Western Pennsylvania Tuesday Literary Club will be hosting a poetry reading by Ernest Schist, whose 26-Letter System has taken the world of academic poetry by storm. Finding his inspiration in the twelve-tone serialism universally recognized as the only legitimate mode of construction in music, Schist’s method for the composition of poetry ensures that each of the twenty-six letters of the alphabet is used approximately as often as any of the others by devising letter rows in which all the letters must be used before a letter can be repeated. Poetry is thus liberated from its former enslavement to meaning, and the listener is free to enjoy the beauties of sound without the annoyance of sense. The reading will be held Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Public Market in the Strip. This week’s event is sponsored by Willoughby’s Organic Tomatoes, whose stall will remain open throughout the reading to serve our patrons. Tickets at the door.
