This reminds me of the candy bar price inflation method:
Step 1: reduce the candy bar’s size a few times
Step 2: Introduce a new “extra-large” candy bar, and hope that people don’t notice that this new “extra-large” candy bar is the same size as the standard size was last year.
Step 3: Go to Step 1.
