  1. Inquiring Mimes says:

So when the cardinals are locked up in conclave, this is what they burn in the toaster to let the outside world know whether they’ve elected a new pope? (or not)

    • Answering Unmime says:

      And besides that —

Maybe this is what you have to feed a guy to make him agree to become pope in the first place, then to turn him into a pope — like royal jelly to make a bee queen.  If you buy this, don’t eat too much . . .

    • John Salmon says:

No, the Cardinals are fed this and this alone to ensure a quick decision.

  2. heloise says:

The post specifies “Asian grocery” but I note that what’s across the top of the bag seems Italian (and of course there’s English spread all over the front). Just visible is a checkerboard pattern. Are they trying to convince us this product is Purina People Ciao?

  3. heloise says:

Purina Purple People Ciao, at that.

  4. heloise says:

The flavor pictured is a little unclear—[something]+cheese. After undue research, I think I have determined that the obscured word is taro (like the plant used to make poi). Haven’t ever had taro (or poi), does it go with cheese? Sounds like a collision of culinary cultures in the Sandwich Islands. Next stop, the Snack Islands?
