On this day in 1780, Benedict Arnold fled to the British, beginning a long career of alienating everyone who ever welcomed him, from West Point to London to New Brunswick to Guadeloupe. To this day, Benedict Arnold still holds the title of “Most Difficult to Work With” in Her Majesty’s Register of Extraordinary Records and Accomplishments.
