ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY.

On this day in 1381 in England, it was discovered that the peasants were revolting. Historians suggest that the revolt would have ended much sooner had the nobles not been rolling on the ground laughing at the outrageously amusing pun this discovery invited.

    When Cornwallis was the Governor of Ireland, the following conversation was reported to have taken place when an aide hoped to reverse Cornwallis’ tolerant treatment of the Catholic population:
    “General Cornwallis, the Irish are rising!”
    Cornwallis, looking at a clock: “( 9 AM – it’s high time they were rising!”
