This year’s Barnswell Prize for Life-Improving Invention and Technology was awarded to high-school junior Kayleigh P. Random, who found a way for Amazon delivery trucks to make a sound like a cat vomiting when they back up. This invention is estimated to have saved more than 18 lives annually by harnessing the innate human instinct to get out of the way of a cat vomiting.
